Steampunk Dragonfly Tinker

Steampunk Dragonfly Tinker

This started as part of another project before developing into it’s own piece. I recently purchased neon fiber optic fiber and got the idea to use it for the wings of a dragonfly. I decided to try my hand a wire sculpting and came up with my version of a Steampunk dragonfly. Once I had the dragonfly I wasn’t quite sure what to do with it, because it was larger than I had anticipated, so my girlfriend suggested a jewelry box and after some trial and error here’s my Steampunk Dragonfly jewelry box, I call it Dragonfly Tinker because to me it looks like he’s working on the clock works. Thanks for looking and commenting I really appreciate it.

Steampunk Aviator Goggles – Handmade

Steampunk Aviator Goggles – Handmade

Today I’m posting my first pair of totally handmade Steampunk aviator goggles. I started with a pair of lenses I purchased on Etsy the I used leather from an old leather bag for the eye cups and straps. I added decorations, copper wire, gears and used smaller blue beads for the second lens. The blue lenses swing open and bag individually. Thanks for looking and commenting. Please check back for future posts.

Steampunk Leather Top Hat Finished

Steampunk Leather Top Hat Finished

Here is the finale of my last two posts. My completed Steampunk Leather Top Hat. I used parts from a leather belt that I took apart and stitched together and added found objects and charms. I wire wrapped a skeleton key for the center piece. Thanks for looking and come back for my next project. I’m working on leather Steampunk aviator goggles.

Steampunk Leather Top Hat Work In Progress

This is different from my other posts as it is a work in progress and not a completed piece. I had a top hat that I bought from Party City for $8.00 and an old leather jacket that I was going to get rid of so I decided to use some of the leather to remake the top hat. In the photos you’ll see the beginning pieces and a partly completed hat. I will post again as I make progress.

Steampunk Octopus Plasma Lamp

Steampunk Octopus Plasma Lamp

Today I’m posting photos of my Steampunk Octopus Lamp. My girlfriend brought home a pair of bottles that had a cool cylindrical shape and when I saw them I knew that I wanted to use them in some sort of lamp. The hardest part was getting light into the bottles though from the beginning I knew that I was going to use Christmas lights because they’re small enough to fit through the opening. The lights went in and out of the bottles a dozen times until I found the correct flow for the placement of the plugs.

The base evolved around the bottles fairly quickly but the hardest part and the part that changed the most was the top of the lamp. Thanks to my girlfriend’s critiques ( though I wasn’t happy about them at the time) I pushed myself to create something completely different than what I had originally imagined. I’m very proud of and happy with the final outcome. Please let me know what you think and check back for more creations.

Steampunk Sexy Demon Goggles

Steampunk Sexy Demon Goggles

I’m stilling feeling the high from the Steampunk World’s Fair this past weekend so here’s an extra post. I made these goggles by special request for my fiancé to wear at the convention. The horns and were her idea and the rest she left up to me. I was really happy with the end result. I bought an inexpensive pair of goggle and used oven baked clay to create the horns and other accents. Thanks for viewing.
