Steampunk Time Machine Backpack

I made this for this year’s Steampunk World’s Fair which just passed in May. I also made a Steampunk rifle which I will be writing about in a separate post. So I got the idea for this backpack a while ago when I saw a video on Youtube here showing how to make a lamp out of Voss water bottles. The challenge for me was to make it compact and portable and also to keep the cost down.

I changed the design to make it lighter and also I don’t really have access to many tools. I used air tubing wrapped in lights as my coil and a portable fish tank air pump to produce the bubbles. I used a wine holder for the case and wooden toy wheels for the number dials. I was inspired by the original Time Machine movie. Hope you like it and thanks for looking.

Steampunk Lady Killer Pistol

I made this Steampunk Lady Killer Pistol and Garter Holster for my wife to wear at this year’s Steampunk World’s Fair in Piscataway NJ. A while back I purchased a 2 pack of small water pistols with the idea of making a discrete gun. I hadn’t really looked at them until the World’s Fair came around and I pulled out a bunch of items to see if I could get any ideas. Among the items I pulled out was a blue finger light that was almost the same color blue as one of the guns. The blue gun was also shaped slightly different then the orange gun in the picture which I used to show the original size of the gun and that it was really a water pistol. Looking at the blue gun it seemed as though the finger light would fit inside it and I thought it would be cool but of course it wasn’t that simple. I split the gun apart and the light kind of fit but I had to use my Dremel to sand down certain areas. Once I had the light inside the hard part was figuring out how to turn the light on and off. I took the finger light apart to see how it worked and after much frustration and cursing I figured out how to attach the switch to the trigger of the gun. So instead of shooting water now it shoots rays of light. The only down side is that you can’t change the batteries without breaking the gun apart. I made the holster from leather, ribbon and a latch hook.

Steampunk World’s Fair 2013

The Steampunk World’s Fair in Piscataway NJ is this weekend May 17 – 19th and I am super excited. I can’t wait to dress up and show off some of my creations. I also love the immersive feel of the event and the incredible amount of inspiration I get from seeing the work of others. I have a couple of new pieces that I’ve made for the event and I will be posting them soon along with photos from the world’s fair. If you are going to the event please comment below. Steampunk Nerf Maverick Skull X

I know there a literally hundreds if not thousands of Steampunked Nerf Mavericks out there and so many of them are amazing but I still had to throw my hat in the ring and make one of my own. So here is my Nerf Maverick Skull X. I used LED lights that turn on when the trigger is pulled and the gun still fires. One of my future projects will be a holster for this gun. Steampunk Wrist Bracer for Ipod Nano

It’s been some time since my last post, things got busy with the holidays and and life in general. I’ve been meaning to post this project for a while. This is my Steampunk Wrist Bracer and Ipod holder to go with my Steampunk Headphones that I posted earlier. It’s made from leather and other decorative elements and the Ipod Nano is removable.

I struggle with this project before finding a way to incorporate the Ipod Nano so that it could be easily attached and removed. In the end a simple strip of leather did the trick and the rest fell into place. Thank you for looking and commenting. I promise it won’t be a long wait for the next post.

Steampunked Sony Headphones

My latest creation is a pair of Steampunk headphones. I wanted them to sound good so I started with Sony MDR-XB300 Extra Bass Stereo Headphones , you can see a picture of the original headphones below, also I liked the leather cushioned ear pads. I cut off the headband leaving only the ear pieces and created the rest from findings, various wire, and leather. They look big on the skull but they fit well and are very comfortable. I’m working on a matching Steampunk wrist cuff to hold my Ipod Nano and will be posting that soon. Thanks for looking and commenting.

Bioshock Big Daddy Nerf Maverick

This project is a departure from my normal work, it is more Deisel Punk than Steampunk. It is based on the Big Daddy Bouncer from the Bioshock games by 2K Games, you can see the actual figure in the pictures below.  I used a Nerf Maverick for the mod, wire from metal clothes hangers, a small motor and added trigger controlled lights and drill, the drill I sculpted from clay. I also added a basket so that Mr. Bubbles wouldn’t be without a little sister. If you want to see the gun in action check out my youtube video here .

Steampunk Dragonfly Tinker

This started as part of another project before developing into it’s own piece. I recently purchased neon fiber optic fiber and got the idea to use it for the wings of a dragonfly. I decided to try my hand a wire sculpting and came up with my version of a Steampunk dragonfly. Once I had the dragonfly I wasn’t quite sure what to do with it, because it was larger than I had anticipated, so my girlfriend suggested a jewelry box and after some trial and error here’s my Steampunk Dragonfly jewelry box, I call it Dragonfly Tinker because to me it looks like he’s working on the clock works. Steampunk Aviator Goggles – Handmade

Today I’m posting my first pair of totally handmade Steampunk aviator goggles. I started with a pair of lenses I purchased on Etsy the I used leather from an old leather bag for the eye cups and straps. I added decorations, copper wire, gears and used smaller blue beads for the second lens. The blue lenses swing open and bag individually. Thanks for looking and commenting. Steampunk Leather Top Hat Finished

Here is the finale of my last two posts. My completed Steampunk Leather Top Hat. I used parts from a leather belt that I took apart and stitched together and added found objects and charms.
